Living

Trenton - Originally known as Gibson-Port, is the oldest town in the county and was chosen county seat in 1825.A Historic Community known for its small town charm, Victorian style homes, and traditional festivals Trenton, Tennessee is a both a great place to live, work, and play. Much like its world famous collection of Veilleuse-Theieres tea pots, the community of Trenton is charming and priceless.


Parks and Recreation

Recreation is important in Trenton and the surrounding Gibson County communities and excellent sports activities are found in all city programs. PineCrest Country Club has a challenging 18-hole golf course and swimming facilities located on Highway 45 between Dyer and Trenton.

In addition, Kentucky Lake, Kentucky Dam Village State Park, Barkley Lake, Land-Between-the-Lakes National Recreational Area, and Reelfoot Lake and State Park are located within an hour's drive.

A 570-acre lake opened in the Summer of 2002. The lake is located just wo miles east of Trenton, and is controlled by a 4,400-foot long dam. Gibson County Lake is managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and features 28 miles of shoreline with some areas reserved for a public swimming beach. Boat docks, launching ramps and fishing piers are available along with a full-service marina.

Just south of the new Gibson County Lake is Diamond Oaks Golf Club, an eighteen-hole championship golf course. Diamond Oaks Golf Club is a semi-private club, where members and guests can enjoy the challenging course in the midst of a beautiful natural setting with a 12-acre private lake. The pro shop offers rental clubs, carts, and a fine line of golfing accessories.

Each of the six towns in the Greater Gibson County area offers city recreation facilities for baseball, tennis, T-ball, softball, horseback riding, health track for walking and jogging, and playground equipment. Various hunting and fishing areas are being developed. Lake Hayes is a 50-acre lake with a five-mile wooded shoreline.

Crenshaw Christmas Tree Farm & Barn

Featuring 130 acres of Christmas trees, covered rolling hills and a 4,500-square-foot barn with seating for 700. 

Trenton Teapot Museum

World's largest collection, 526 pieces, rare porcelain night light teapots from Asia, Europe and Africa. Valued at over three million dollars, the Veilleuse-Theieres will take your breath away.

The teapots are the basis of a week long festival the second week of May each year, with events such as teapot lighting, church services, arts and crafts, parade, fireworks and much more.

Also of local interest is the Nite Lite Theater which provides entertainment with productions such as "The Wizard of Oz," "Sound of Music," "Steel Magnolias," "The Nerd," and many others

Trenton Hospitals

The Gibson General Hospital, an affiliate of West Tennessee Healthcare, Inc. located on Hospital Drive in Trenton, has 101 beds and is staffed by 40 physicians with ten of these physicians being active medical staff members, one internist, one radiologist, two doctors of osteopathy, one surgeon, 22 registered nurses, 25 licensed practical nurses, two registered pharmacists and 12 specialists.

The hospital includes ancillary departments, complete Intensive Care Unit, and 24 hour in-house physician emergency coverage.

Also available is the P.M. Care Center, offering non-emergency medical care by a physician from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Other medical personnel in Trenton include five dentists, and three optometrists.
