Parks and Recreation
The Humboldt Parks and Recreation Department is a member of the Tennessee Parks and Recreation Association and is maintained by a director who has been certified by the National Parks and Recreation Association.
The City of Humboldt maintains five public parks with playground equipment, tennis courts, softball fields and baseball fields. Sports, special events, and a variety of programs are offered.
The Humboldt Golf and Country Club offers its members an eighteen-hole golf course, tennis courts, a clubhouse with dining facilities and a swimming pool.
Davy Crockett Lake and Humboldt Fish Hatchery, located just outside of the city, is a 180-acre lake providing facilities for fishing and boating. In addition, Kentucky Lake , Kentucky Dam Village State Park, Barkley Lake and Land- Between-the-Lakes National Recreational Area are located seventy-five miles north of Humboldt. Natchez Trace, Chickasaw and Reelfoot Lake State Parks are all within a one-hour drive and provide fishing, camping, boating, with overnight accommodations in cabins or lodge facilities.
Humboldt is the home of the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival. This Festival is held each year the first week in May. It was established in 1934 and has gained national recognition, featuring one of the largest Grand Float Parades in America, possibly the largest non-motorized parade in the world (Junior Parade) and many events and activities during the week-long celebration.

Education
Approximately 1,800 students attend the five schools in the Humboldt City School District: three elementary schools serving Pre-School - 6th, one Junior High (7-8), and one High School (9-12)
Humboldt City School systems has school safety in mind at all times for all students - it the boards goal to insure that all students will have a safe environment that is conducive to learning.

- A district professional development plan addresses: - research-based instructional practices/strategies - curriculum and assessment - transforming schools through systemic reform
- Daily classroom activities incorporate performance-based assessment
- The Family Resource Center serves each of the five schools in addition to a VISTA worker working with volunteers
- Adopt A School Program provides schools with resources from local businesses beyond the school's budget
The University of Tennessee at Martin is approximately 40 miles from Humboldt. A State Community College, a business college, and three four-year colleges are located in Jackson (15 miles). Memphis (83 miles west) has 14 colleges and universities, nine business schools, and 21 technical schools. There is a Tennessee Technology Center located in Jackson (15 miles). Other colleges and universities are located throughout West Tennessee. Dyersburg State Community College has a satellite campus in Trenton (12 miles). The Ned R. McWherter Center for Advanced Technologies, located at Jackson State Community College, provides training on the most modern equipment available. Many area industries have developed a close working relationship with this Center.

Located in the center of West Tennessee , Humboldt is nestled in a region flush with modern healthcare facilities. Located in Humboldt is a 62-bed acute care hospital that offers a variety of services. Local services include acute care, emergency services, obstetrics, physical therapy, swing-bed, surgery, radiology, stress testing, and swallowing study services. A mixture of inpatient and outpatient services is available to citizens of Humboldt. Fifteen physicians are on staff at Humboldt General and include Family Practice, Obstetrics, Surgery, Podiatry, Allergist, Optometrist, and Chiropractic. In addition, Cardiologists, Nephrologists, and Urologists provide outpatient service.
Within fifteen minutes of Humboldt is located one of the largest medical centers in the south. Services available there are Cardiac Surgery & Rehab, Neurological Surgery & Rehab, Cardiac Catherization, Behavior Health Services, Pediatric and Adult Intensive Care, Pulmonary Rehab, MRI, Skilled Nursing and Sports Medicine, just to name a few of the specialties.
Located in Humboldt are over 400 nursing home beds, as well as Home Health & Hospice care. Just 15 minutes from Humboldt, are over 300 rooms for Assisted Living that are available to the community.
